The Union Gallery Call for Participants: “Intersections: Art + Research”
Do you have an interest in or passion for art? Do you want to talk about it? The Union Gallery wants to hear from you!
The Union Gallery is looking for graduate and senior undergraduate students, faculty, or members of the community to speak about an artwork in our current exhibition, Surface, as part of Intersections: Art + Research – an inter- and cross-disciplinary series that encourages conversations around the work being produced within the Queen’s community. The current exhibit explores the nature of the surface and how it is challenged, disrupted, and transformed through painting, printmaking, collage, photography, and mixed media.
The next iteration of this event will be held during the current exhibit. We invite expressions of interest to present a five-minute response about an artwork of your choice. We invite you to visit the gallery to view the artworks with an eye to picking a piece to which you would like to respond. Please send us an expression of interest with a brief biography and the title of the artwork to Union Gallery, attn. Claude Bock at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Deadline: December 1, 2017 at midnight!
In responding to the artwork you could think about:
– Why you chose that particular piece (content, colour, texture, genre)
– How the work intersects with your own research/interests
– How the artist addresses the thematic of the exhibition
We hope to have many participants to make this an informative and fun evening for everyone. The artists in the exhibition will also be present. Please join us!
