Queen’s Winter Coat Exchange is a free donations-based winter gear supply resource available to all members of the Queen’s community.
The idea originated from a series of conversations Heather Poechman (ArtSci ’17, M.Phil ’18) had with international students about the difficulty adjusting to Canadian weather, “I wanted to find a way to help alleviate some of the additional costs associated with studying abroad in Canada, as well as find a sustainable way to support the Queen’s community at large.”
Students are able to borrow winter gear (coats, hats, mitts, scarves, etc.) and return them in good condition once the winter season has ended – freeing up storage space in suitcases and home closets while also allowing future Queen’s members to continue using the resource.
The Queen’s Winter Coat Exchange is open Monday to Friday, 8am to midnight in the Room of Requirement, Room 238 of the JDUC.
