What to Do this Weekend at Queen’s & Downtown: Nov. 23-26, 2017

This weekend is full of live music! The Trews, Whitehorse, Arkells, The Washboard Union, Queen’s Jazz Ensemble, and many more! There’s also a Victorian Tea party fundraiser, back-to-back Queen’s Gaels basketball games and women’s hockey games, a pottery show & sale, and a free movie night! All Weekend

Discover a variety of local, handcrafted works of sculpture, functional pottery and ornaments. Locally-made pottery makes a great gift! FREE Admission Thursday to Sunday.

Friday 6pm/8pm

Game of the Week
The Gaels women's basketball team (5-1) will return to home court when they host the Windsor Lancers (5-1) at the ARC Friday night in Game of the Week. Game time is set for 6pm.

Friday 7:30pm

Queen's Jazz Ensemble
$7 students/seniors – $12 adults. Come out and join the Jazz Ensemble for an evening full of your favourite Jazz standards mixed with unique and fun arrangements. We’re sure to play something for everyone!

Saturday 6pm

FREE Movie Night! Next Church on Colborne St will be screening Moana. Popcorn provided. Bring a snuggly blanket if you feel like it.

Sunday 11am-8pm

Drop in for 30 minutes or 5 hours! This event sets first-year students loose on a final paper of their choosing in a dedicated, (relatively) distraction-free space. The Peer Writing and Learning Assistants will be available to provide suggestions, while, in a nearby room, free snacks, and excellent raffle prizes keep everyone motivated.

Thursday 7:30pm

Whitehorse at Grand Theatre
Glam and sleaze, desert grit and subway rats, scum-bags and fakers, hot messes and cold shoulders: welcome to the world of Whitehorse. LIVE at the Grand Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 7:30pm. Tickets available at the door. All ages, with cash bar for 19+.

Friday 6pm (19+)

Get the girls together for a crafty night of art, ale and fun! 19+, not within walking distance of campus, open to public.

Saturday 7pm

This Saturday at 7pm, Queen’s prof Darrell Bryan is performing an unforgettable concert at Cooke’s-Portsmouth United Church, near West Campus. Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door. Listen to his cover of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and get ready to melt.

Tickets range from $36-$61+tax. This event is open to the public and is all ages with a licensed 19+ bar area. JUNO award-winners Arkells are a critically acclaimed rock n roll band, known for their classic songwriting, electric live show, and singles “Come to Light,” “Leather Jacket,” “11:11,” “Private School,” “My Heart’s Always Yours,” and new single “Knocking at the Door.”

Friday 7pm (19+)

5-time Country Music Award winners The Washboard Union have defied classification and have become one of the most exciting and talked about new bands on the Country music scene! Tickets $25, 19+. EARLY SHOW 7-10pm

Sat & Sun 2:30pm

Women's hockey jumps to No.8 best teams in Canada ahead of this weekend's Saturday and Sunday games, both at 2:30pm.
