Many residences choose to also enter a team into our regular Intramural leagues in many other sports. The only rule – you have to live in residence.

Basic Rules about Intramural Sports at Queen’s

  1. Fall-Winter Intramurals are open to Queen’s students only.  Part-time students must purchase an ARC membership for the full term, before they are eligible to play.  Faculty/staff/alumni are not eligible for the fall-winter intramural leagues.
  2. All players must have their validated student card at the game.
  3. An individual may play for one team per league.  For example:
    • One fall volleyball team, not one in tier 1, one in tier 2, etc.
    • One fall basketball team, not one on Monday, one on Wednesday, etc.
    • Ineligible player(s) will result in the game being recorded as a default loss.
  4. All intramural teams must pay a Performance Bond when registering.
    • Bond refunds will be available at the end of each semester, provided the team has incurred zero defaults. (Note: Bond refunds must be picked up by April 20, 2018, or they are forfeited).
  5. In all Co-Rec Leagues (except Residence Leagues), the composition of a team on the court/field, is required to be 50% males and 50% females. In cases where an uneven number of players is present, there may be an in-game differential of one.
  6. Each team is required to have a minimum playing compliment dressed and ready to go for game time. If the team doesn’t meet that criteria within 5 minutes of the scheduled game time, the game will be recorded as a default loss.
    • Teams are encouraged to arrive early to the game, so that if you are short-handed, you have time to phone teammates to get them to the game within the 5 minute grace period.

Penalties

  • All games recorded as a default will result in financial penalties.
  • If your team defaults/no-shows at the 1st game of the season: loss of full bond and removal from the league.
  • If your team defaults 1 game after the 1st game: loss of 50% of bond
  • If your team defaults 2 games: loss of full bond and removal from the league
