Wearable Art Series: Neoprene Mask Making

As part of our Wearable Art Workshop Series, Calliope Collective presents facilitator Clelia Scala for a two day Neoprene Mask Making Workshop May 26 & 27, 2018!

On day 1, you will learn design development, pre-sculpture prep, sculpture of the mask for neoprene, sculpture techniques, and tricks, master mold making, and pouring your cast.

Day 2, we will have pulled your mask and will take you through different finishing options, including where to get supplies.

You will complete this class with a master mold, your finished mask, the knowledge to continue creating masks and find supplies. Basic supplies are included.

Each day will consist of a one-hour lunch break at approximately 12 noon.

Cost: $150 for workshop + $50 materials fee. Space is limited.

Clelia Scala is a mask and puppet designer, collage artist, and illustrator. She makes masks and puppets for theatre and teaches mask-making and puppet-making in classroom and workshop settings. She has made masks for private individuals, visual artists, performance artists, and clients such as Concordia University, Seneca College, Simon Fraser University, and the Toronto District School Board. Clelia studied puppet construction and performance at the Humber Puppetry Intensive and at the New England Puppet Intensive and has taken courses and workshops in painting, printmaking, shadow puppetry, and sculpture.
