UNICEF in Action: Conference on Human Trafficking
Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM$50
This year’s UNICEF in Action theme explores the dimensions of human trafficking on an international and domestic level. Canadians often assume human trafficking is an epidemic occurring solely in other countries. The reality of human trafficking is that it occurs both abroad, and increasingly here in Canada.
This conference aims to focus on the various circumstances of human trafficking, addressing the who, what, where, when, why and how aspects of the epidemic. Specifically, these dimensions will include: human rights violations, short term and long term trauma, trafficking rings, sex trafficking, motives behind trafficking and more. The conference will also include a case study focusing on human trafficking and its effects on society, mainly children and women. Additionally, the conference will delve into UNICEF’s current initiatives and research regarding human trafficking and discuss potential policy approaches to help tackle the epidemic. Please note that the event is open to Queen’s students and non-Queen’s students alike!
