The Poetry Show ft Johnny MacRae

Tuesday, May 2nd @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM

10$

This is a call to all wordsmiths, literary lovers and other creative weirdos to converge for the verbal wizardry we call a poetry show!

Let’s create a space electrified by art, passion, self-expression and community where you can freely share your poems, stories, diatribes, confessions, dirty limericks, dramatic proclamations, Shakespearean soliloquies, or that sexy dream you had about Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Any form of writing is welcome. So come out and experience the heady mix of verbal dexterity and raw heart and soul, because it will be an avalanche of awesome. Support your local anti-heroes.

On top of that, we have a feature by a verbal ninja of the highest calibre all the way from Vancouver, Johnny MacRae! Since first emerging onto the Vancouver Poetry Slam stage, Johnny has carved out a reputation as an innovative writer and performer, a passionate arts educator, and a dedicated community organizer. He’s been a regional and national level slam champion, and the 2013 Victoria Spoken Word Festival Poet of Honour. In the slam community, Johnny has been a three-time regional champion (2010, Vancouver team champion; 2013/2016 Vancouver individual champion), as well as having won the inaugural Canadian Festival of Spoken Word underground indies title in 2011. Whether performing, teaching, or organizing, Johnny continues to prove that he is one of the most versatile, innovative, and dedicated spoken word artists in the country.

Johnny will also be facilitating a spoken word workshop the next day which is FREE for anyone 13-30. You can sign up here: http://www.juvenisfestival.ca/poetry.php
