The Workshop
This Spring, the Tett Centre is offering an extended Youth Creativity Workshop called, Visual Vocabulary. Resident artist, Anouk Jonker, will be working with a group of Youth, ages 16-30, to get out of their comfort zone, expand their visual vocabulary, and develop the professional tools necessary to become a working artist. The class will incorporate a variety of activities over the course of six weeks, including art workshops and artist talks. The course will culminate in a two-week group exhibition at the Tett Centre where the artists will show a Final Project. The show will be hung and curated by the young artists! This will be an excellent way to grow as an artist and meet other creative people in the Kingston community.

Bio
Anouk is a Dutch artist, currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Technical Art History at Queen’s University. Although she continues her work as a portrait artist, her recent paintings reference issues in Western Art History, including early controversial methods of art conservation. She works primarily with oils on canvas with an impasto technique, but also likes to sketch, dab, drizzle, and erase. To see some of her work, visit her website at http://www.anoukjonker.com.
