Magisterra Soloists in Concert at St. George’s Cathedral

Friday, May 19th @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Join Magisterra Soloists in the beautiful St. George Cathedral for a diverse program of music featuring Mendelssohn’s famed String Octet, Hans Gál’s charming Five Intermezzi–a set of five pieces which bring to life the effervescent Viennese fin-du-siècle–as well as a selection from Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras Suite and Bartók’s 44 Duos for 2 Violins. It will be a diverse and scintillating lineup not to be missed!

Magisterra Soloists is a bold new Canadian chamber ensemble which unites a kaleidoscope of artists from across the globe under the direction of acclaimed German violinist, Annette-Barbara Vogel. Magisterra engages a broad and vibrant repertoire ranging from known masterworks to new and commissioned works by Canadian composers. In tandem with their performance schedule, the members of the ensemble passionately dedicate their time to bringing music to young people through outreach concerts and educational programs.

The ensemble celebrated its international debut in the summer of 2016 with its inaugural tour to Brazil. This concert is the first in a series of performances across Ontario and Québec as a part of the ensemble’s Spring 2017 Concert Tour.
