“Failure, Fury & Forgetting”

Wednesday, March 29th @ 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Free

Please join us on Wednesday, March 29th from 4-5:30PM in Biosciences 1103 to hear from our highly anticipated guest, Minelle Mahtani, professor in critical and cultural geography and journalism at University of Toronto Scarborough, and the author of  “Mixed Race Amnesia: Resisting the Romanticization of Multiraciality.”

In a talk that’s been deemed a master class in academic storytelling, Minelle Mahtani asks difficult questions about her own passage through failure and fury, loss and love through a culmination of mixedracemoments in her own life and her research on mixedrace Canadians. Drawing from her experience hosting an anticolonial radio show, “Sense of Place” at Roundhouse Radio in Vancouver, she explains how state sponsored multiracial illogics are sustained through particular kinds of strategic forgetting.

This is an open event; please share widely.
