Book launch & reading: Jane Byers, with Andrea OFarrell

Jane Byers, a poet from Nelson, BC, will be launching her second collection of poems called ‘Acquired Community’ (Caitlin Press/ Dagger Editions, 2016).
Andrea O’Farrell, a Spoken Word poet and teacher from Newcastle, ON, will be reading that evening, as well.
Andrea O’Farrell is an award-winning poet with a background in teaching and dramatic arts. She performs for and teaches Spoken Word Poetry to a diverse range of people at schools, community centres, shelters, fundraising events, churches, youth groups, and poetry-focused events. Her passion is helping those affected by oppression work though life struggles, identify hope, and find and claim their voice through Spoken Word Poetry.
Jane Byers lives in Nelson, British Columbia. ‘Acquired Community’, her 2nd book of poems, was released in October, 2016 by Caitlin Press-Dagger Editions. Her debut poetry collection, ‘Steeling Effects’ is published by Caitlin Press (March, 2014). She has had poems and essays published in various literary journals in Canada, the U.S. and England, including Grain, Descant, Plenitude, The Antigonish Review, Rattle and Best Canadian Poetry 2014.
