Book Launch and Reading, with Music

Vancouver poet, Catherine Owen, will be launching her latest collection of poetry, ‘Dear Ghost’ (Wolsak and Wynn, 2017). Joining her and reading as well that evening will be Kingston author and poet, Alyssa Cooper, following her recent chapbook launch of ‘Unlike Icarus’ (Thee Hellbox Press, 2017). The evening will also include a musical performance by Kingston singer-songwriter, Erika Lamon, who last year released a single and is set to release a solo EP later this year.

Erika Lamon is a bilingual singer-songwriter based out of Kingston. She threw herself into the music world by participating in the Festival franco-ontarien music competition ‘Ontario Pop 2013’, now Rond-Point. In 2014, she was 1 of 7 candidates retained for JAM 3, which aired on TFO that September, and she performed in les FrancoFolies de Montréal, the biggest francophone music festival in North America. In 2016, she released her first single, “Strangers Know”, a soulful pop song Dido & Jewel-like influences. She also performs with her francophone indie-folk band, Les Soliloques, and is working on a solo EP set for release in autumn, 2017.

Alyssa Cooper is a Canadian author, poet, and spoken word artist currently living in Kingston, Ontario with her partner, two cats, and a Boston Terrier. She has authored three novels, a short story collection, and two poetry collections since her first publication in 2008. Her most recent published work is a chapbook of poetry, ‘Unlike Icarus’ (Thee Hellbox Press, 2017).

Catherine Owen lives in downtown New Westminster, BC, and is a poet, author, reviewer, and workshop facilitator. She is the author of ten collections of poetry, and three of prose, including essays, interviews and stories. She will be launching her latest, ‘Dear Ghost’ (Wolsak and Wynn, 2017). Her work has been nominated for a range of awards and won the Alberta Book Prize in 2010. Owen also plays metal bass, and enjoys collaborating with filmmakers, photographers and other artists.
