Thursday, April 12th @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

We have been advised that Dmitry Sinkovsky has cancelled his engagement with Arion Baroque Orchestra due to a scheduling conflict. In Montreal and Kingston, Arion Baroque Orchestra will now be performing with Violinist and Guest Director Boris Begelman. Boris is a Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (Sony Classics) artists, and we are thrilled he will be coming to the Isabel.

ABOUT BORIS BEGELMAN

β€œBoris Begelman unlocks the vibrancy of music … achieving the feat partly through generous and stylish ornamentation and partly through a level of imagination and engagement that is consistently high and avoids any feeling of the routine – the essence of good Baroque music-making.” – Gramophone

Born in Moscow in 1983, Boris Begelman began his studies on the violin at the early age of seven. After music school and college he studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Mikhail Gotsdiner (violin) and Dmitry Sinkovsky (baroque violin), and later postgraduate studies with Alexei Lubimov from 2007 to 2010.

Following his growing interest in Early Music, Boris obtained his diploma in baroque violin (magna cum laude) at the Conservatorio Bellini di Palermo with Enrico Onofri (violin) and Riccardo Minasi (chamber music) in January 2013.

Boris regularly appears as concertmaster as well as soloist with some of the finest baroque orchestras today including Il Complesso Barocco (Alan Curtis), Concerto Italiano (Rinaldo Alessandrini), Accademia Bizantina (Ottavio Dantone), Cappella Gabetta (Andres Gabetta), Il Pomo d’oro, Cappella Mediterranea. He has performed as soloist with orchestras under the baton of Giovanni Antonini, Ottavio Dantone, Enrico Onofri and other world-renowned conductors.

Boris directed from the violin and played solos with “Accademia Bizantina”, directed Max Cencic at Opera di Lausanne with “Il Pomo d’Oro orchestra”, toured China as a part of the Eggner Trio and conducted Simone Kermes and Vivica Genaux with Cappella Gabetta Orchestra at the Forum Am Schlosspark, Ludwigsburg. In the 2015-2016 season the first recording of Arsenale Sonoro with Telemann violin sonatas for DHM (Sony Classics) was highly acclaimed by critics from all over the world.

During the 2017-2018 season Boris will appear as soloist and/or conductor on the festivals in Merano, Paris (Salle Gaveau), Munich (Prinzregententheater), Berlin, Bernau, Helmstedt, Dresden (Kulturpalast), Timisoara among others.

Boris’s next CD release Bach, Sonatas and Partitas for violin solo, is scheduled for November 2017 on DHM (Sony Classics) label. Boris plays on a violin by Louis Moitessier from the 1790s.
