After Work Kayak Basics Course

Wednesday, June 21st @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

RSVP required.
Join us for this “Getting Started” Kayak Course for 5 people only on the longest day of the summer – June 21!
Discover the world of kayaking with this after work 3-hour course with Walt Sepic of Firefly Adventures. Walt will demystify kayaking, we will learn lots and have fun!

This workshop will include: Types of kayaks and paddles, their parts, safety kits, fitting of pfd’s (personal floating device), entering and launching kayaks, balancing, sitting, landing and exiting, portaging techniques and types of strokes and applications. We’ll have lots of practice on the water.

This course requires that Walt registers both the course and participants with ORCKA and pay fees to them for cards and badges, etc. He will also need everyone to fill out and sign registration/waiver/medical forms.

Please note: Walt only has 2 kayaks to rent at $20 per rental. I’ll be checking into rentals soon, but count on the price being quite a bit more, I’ll be checking and adding to the event description.

If you need a Kayak please let me know.

Cost: $30/person + $20/kayak for first 2 kayaks rented from Walt; I’ll check into prices for the other kayaks. First to pay are the first to get Walts rentals 😉

Payment: e-transfer

*You are welcome to bring your own kayak and equipment. If you have your own kayak or can borrow a good one, please let me know! Everyone must wear a PDF so if you have one please bring; Walt has some to loan us…just let me know.

**Please note that this is a casual activity group run by peers, not a professional events group. Neither Meetup nor the organizers are responsible for you. Each person must sign registration/waiver/medical forms before the course begins.
